As with most things, time moves on and there is a need to update and change the way we work. We are all more aware than ever of our environment and the importance of keeping it clean and attractive.
Ensuring that environmental issues are dealt with before they become big problems and services are tailored to meet the needs of the community is accepted good practice for a modern local government. It is hoped that by introducing more collaborative ways of working it will encourage more people to care about their local environment.
Creating effective partnerships with the local community will be vital to ensuring the success of initiatives like Streetscene and opening up effective and accessible lines of communication could be the key to achieving that.
Report it Now is web technology at its most innovative. It enables anyone with a mobile phone to give instant, specific and detailed reports about environmental issues such as abandoned vehicles, graffiti and fly tipping the minute they come across them.
Combined with the ability to report on line and to track and monitor the status of the issue GOSS believe that this is an innovative and unique way for councils to not only go further but also promote community action and engagement.
